Local politicians competed with local sport stars and some of Galway’s finest tennis players at a special Pro-Celeb Tennis Tournament to mark the Galway Lawn Tennis Club’s Open Day at the weekend.

Tennis player, author, and local campaigner Mike Geraghty this week announced he will be standing as an Independent candidate for Galway City Central in June’s Local Elections.

As we head into St Valentine’s Day many of the city councillors will have their eye on two dates - February 14 and June 5.

Cllr John Connolly and Ollie Crowe are the Fianna Fáil candidates for Galway City Central, a ward which rivals Galway City East for competitiveness and which has been rightly dubbed ‘The Group of Death’. Only one of them will survive the Local Election on June 5.
